A group of dedicated creatives who share a passion for felt making have formed their own craft association entitled ‘fAB’ – Feltmakers at Bicton College.

Uniting alumni and associates of the College, the fAB initiative has been created to promote the many disciplines within the fibre art field of study, which include felt making, needle felt, spinning, embroidery, knitting and much more

fAB will also be used as a platform for its members to exhibit and sell their artwork, with 10% of the proceeds reinvested into the association to enable continued growth and further outreach into the local and wider community.

Founding member and Head of the School of Fibrecraft at Bicton College, Gill Burbidge, says,

“The creation of fAB (Feltmakers at Bicton College) has developed from the imagination and entrepreneurialism of our alumni and associates here at the College. Their enthusiastic nature has not only meant that they have a local support network behind them, but also that skills and best practice are shared throughout the group and beyond with the people they meet and inspire.”

fAB have just launched a new website www.feltmakersatbictoncollege.org.uk and are showcasing their work along with, demonstrations at their annual Heritage Craft Christmas Fair at Bicton College on Sunday 7th December. The fair will feature local artisans, gift sellers and livestock breeders whose wool is used in the creative felt making process.
