Anne has lived in the Teign Valley for the past 10 years. She has had a career in Education, teaching and now as a Special Educational Needs consultant. Her interest in art and craft developed following her move to Devon and a chance encounter with feltmaking, since which she became hooked on textile art.
She joined the NCFE Fibrecraft courses at Bicton College, gaining level 3 two years ago. During this time she has exhibited and sold work around Devon. She also runs small group workshops tailored to individual requirements.
She is largely influenced by the nature of the valley where she lives and often works with locally sourced fibres. During the past 3 years she has explored creating garments from scratch: sourcing local fibre, spinning into yarn, designing and then making clothes or accessories. Much of her felt making also incorporates local fleece and fibre. She uses the naturally occurring colours to provide contrast in this particular work.
Anne keeps a small number of angora goats which beside being delightful in their own right, usefully provide enough mohair to keep her spinning, knitting and felt making throughout the year.
